    REGISTERED NURSE

    Maddie Smith

    WHAT WOULD I T YPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?


    A typical day for a day nurse would
    be going over the things that might
    have happened that night. You
    would then spend your whole day
    with patients and their families. A
    lot of the day you would be giving
    medication to the patients. But
    monitoring them and being there
    for their needs. Like changing
    bandages or IV's. It would be a
    long day but you learn something
    new every day and it's worth every
    minute of it.

    WORKING CONDITIONS?
    You could work nights or days, either 12 hours or 8 hours
    shifts. You would have to be careful of your surroundings,
    such as not wanting to stab yourself with needles or touching
    things with your bare hands. Being a nurse is an all year round
    job. You dont just have to work in a hospital but other options
    would be a cruise ship or teaching about being a registered
    nurse. It is an indoors job and you would be required to wear
    Scrubs.

    SALARY
    $66k-$95k

    FUTURE OUTLOOK
    Being a registered nurse will always being required in the
    future. Unless people stop getting sick then a nurse will
    always be a demand.

    You will need a University Degree.

    UBC Vancouver Registered Nursing Program. I think this
    school appeals to me the best because I've heard many good
    things about it and it is close to home.

    COST
    Approximately for 4 years of tuition, would be $22,802 and
    Student Fee's/Books and Supplies for 4 years is $12,964.

    Total approximately =$35,784

    ENGL 112 and 150
    BIOL 131 and 133
    MATH 111 and 125

    WHAT ARE OTHER OPTIONS IF NURSING


    DOESNT WORK OUT?
    Midwife, Dental Assistant or Counselor. I love working with
    kids and being social. All three of my other options if being a
    Nurse didn't work out, are all related with health care. Which
    is what I'm most interested in.

    WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THIS


    CAREER?
    Becoming a nurse has been one of my interests for a few
    years. I love interacting with other people and making people
    happy. I have a very positive attitude to help with talking with
    others and Im more of hands on worker.
