Writing Homework for the week of ___________________

Pick a prompt below. Using your best handwriting and everything you have been learning
about writing this far, and respond in your writing journal to the prompt with a minimum of
5 good sentences. This writing assignment is about writing freely for a sustained period of
time. Although you will not be required to follow the writing process step-by-step, you
should still put some thought and effort into making your writing the best it should be. We
may even get time to share these responses with classmates. You may also illustrate your
writing if you wish on an adjacent page.
To do your best consider following these tips below:
~Think about each prompt and select the one that interests you the most.
~Plan out what you want to say in your mind before you write it. You may even want to
say it out loud.
~Write down what you want to say, but reread it afterwards to make sure it says what
you want and makes sense.
~Use a pencil so you can easily fix minor mistakes, like spelling and punctuation errors.
