Evaluation Activity 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The BBFC for our production, The Darkness, is 15. The reason why we chose
this certification is because as a group we felt that an 18 certification was too
high. We also felt that it was appropriate as our target audience was from
ages 15-35. Finally, it is not rated lower as the production may not be clear to
a younger audience.
A rating of 12 is too low as it may affect a viewer in a bad way. The visuals of
the production as well as the sound effects may be enough to leave a
negative impact on the young individual.
The following are examples of those from our target audience:Name: Abdul Salami
Age: 16
Likes: Football, Music, Horror films
Abduls favourite TV programmes include Dexter, Homeland,
Nikitah
The reasons why i believe that viewers of our production
may be similar to Abdul is because the main thing is that he
likes horror films. Another reason is that he is a teenager so
he may relate to the main protagonist in some ways.
Name: Taylor Mullaney-Downer
Age: 16
Likes: Sports, Reality TV shows
Taylor fits the range for our target audience. Although her
main likes are not horror films, she may be likely to view this
production as the protagonist is based around the same
age with her. As well as having the same gender as the
protagonist, these reasons may be the reason why she may
relate to the production.

Personal reviews from those in our target audience range:
Tanvir Rahman: 16 year old Sixth Form student
I thought that the concept was good and the score music was perfect in
creating the ideal environment.
Demi Patel: 17 year old Sixth Form student
I love the way this opening sequence was laid out. It made me really want
to watch the full film. If there was a full 90 minute film released based on this
sequence, I would go and watch it.
Nadia Ahmed: 20 year old University student
The way the ghostly figure appeared was really cool. Love how the ghost is
affiliated with the darkness.
