NHTSA Instructor

Development
Purpose: The Instructor Development Course has the goal of qualifying participants to teach NHTSA
courses. However, meeting all learning objectives will provide participants with the skills and abilities to become better public speakers in any setting. The course aims to improve classroom skills and provide fresh
ideas and techniques to enhance the delivery of presentations.
Course Description: The Instructor Development Course highlights a variety of topics that equip you to be a
better trainer. The class covers adult learning principles, different ways to deliver training content, techniques
for making training more interactive, the use of media in a training setting, question asking strategies, team
teaching models, and specifics related to NHTSA curriculum. As part of the class, students get video-taped
and critiqued by training experts.

Who Should Attend: Seasoned traffic safety professionals who work for and with NHTSA and SHSOs. People and partners involved in the SHSOs traffic safety programs and projects including Law Enforcement,
Communications personnel, Advocacy groups and other stakeholders. Employees who have partnered with
NHTSA and SHSOs in traffic safety and injury prevention initiatives are equally welcome.
Course Length: 36 hours (4 1/2 days)
