Editing Profi le Fran Saunders

I have edited Masters and PhD dissertations and theses across multiple disciplines
(psychology, law, engineering, development studies, psychology, education, biology,
statistics and actuarial science) for several institutions including the University of
KwaZulu-Natal over the last 11 years.
In 2008 I developed and taught an English Acceleration course for Vega Brand
Communications School which was subsequently rolled out nationally. In 2005 I codeveloped a skills-based course Integrated English Language for UKZN, and also
revised the course material for Academic Language Education.
In the NGO sector I edit project reports, business proposals, annual reports and
miscellaneous documents. Past clients: SINANI and HEARD (Health, Economics and
HIV/AIDS Research Division). I also worked for HEARD as a writing mentor to
post-doctoral research students for eighteen months. I co-edited the 2012 Conflict
Management Handbook for the African Union.
I have presented papers on EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and ESL (English as
a Second Language) at international conferences: Hong Kong 2008, and Budapest
2009. I continue to research language development in second language English
speakers.
