How Drugs Affect Your Body: Poster Project

For this independent research project, you will be researching a specific drug and how it affects a
specific organ in the body.
You have to choose from one of the drugs discussed during class.

Part 1 of your Research: (First class period)

o Identify the drug
o Find AT LEAST 3 scientific studies proving the negativity of the drug on the body
o Narrow down your research to one organ
o Find 2 studies on how the drug affects this specific organ (brain, heart, liver, lungs, etc)
Part 2 of your Research: (Second class period)
o Find a short video explaining the negative impact of the drug on the organ
o Find a diagram depicting the impact
o Draw a diagram on your poster
o Research using the Quran and explain how the drug is haram (Have at least 3 examples)
Part 3: Creating your poster: (Third class period)
o You will need to arrange the information you researched on your poster in an appropriate
way
o Make sure the information flows for your presentation
o Have all information covered on your poster
o You can print and glue your research on your poster
o You are drawing a diagram, but you can include other pictures that you have printed from
online resources.

The goal of this project is for you to gain a higher understanding of the negative effects different drugs
have on the body.
Once you have chosen the drug, you are to conduct online research on how it affects a specific organ or
organ system in the body. (Brain, liver, etc). Focus only on the one so that you can go into more detail.
It is ok to mention other parts of the body the drug affects, but stay focused on the one you choose.
An additional part of this project is to use examples from the Quran explaining why drugs are haram. If
you cannot find your specific drug mentioned in the Quran, you can group drugs together for this
portion of your project.
If you created a PowerPoint for the last project, create a poster and vice-versa.

For your poster or PowerPoint you need the following:

Title
Research written clearly or typed
Photographs
Diagram of the organ/organ system the drug affects
Evidence from the Quran stating why drugs are haram
Any additional information you see fit to add
