INVASIVE SPECIES
Also known as nonindigenous species, non-native species, introduced
species, alien species, exotic species
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
To learn more about invasive species, go to the Environmental Literacy
Councils web page and read their information on non-native species

CHOOSE A SPECIES
Go to the CIA Factbook website and research your two countries
invasive species. Pick an invasive species from ONE of those countries
to do your poster on. It can be an animal, a plant, a bug, or an aquatic
species.

THE POSTER
Your poster on a HALF sheet of posterboard (get with a buddy and split a
piece), must include the following parts about the species for your country:
1. Name of Your Species (LATIN/scientific name and the common name)
2. PICTURE(S) at least ONE picture of your species
3. A LIST OF IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS key features like color,
shape, size, etc., to help in identifying this species
4. LAST SEEN Where did this species originally come from? INCLUDE A
MAP of that originating country/region with the area colored in as to where
it came from
5. SUSPECTED HIDEOUTS Include a map of your country with the areas
shaded in as to where this invasive species is located now
THE PRESENTATION
You will take 2-3 minutes to present your species to the class. DO NOT READ
directly from your poster use it as a guide to explain what you learned about
this species.
