My student is taking an iReady test. What is that?
IReady is a diagnostic and data-driven computer-based program that supports the implementation of the new standards in Reading and Math. In grades K-2, IReady is used as a diagnostic. This means it assesses students to see what their strengths and areas of opportunities are and provides the teacher a "diagnosis" through data to inform and drive instruction for your child, as well as measures academic growth over time. Students are assessed three times during the year in grades K-2. In grades 3-5, iReady is also used as a diagnostic. However, it is also used as an individualized instructional computer-based program based on each individual student's ability and need. Students continue to move forward in the program through lessons, practice, and quick checks for understanding. The iReady diagnostic for Reading and Math pinpoints student needs, and ongoing progress monitoring shows whether students are on track to achieve end-of-year targets. It has also been proven to predict student performance on state assessments for grades 3-5. This year all schools in Manatee County are implementing IReady as a part of the curriculum. iReady will continue to be utilized throughout the school year. If you have additional questions regarding iReady, please be sure to ask.
