The Parent Advisory Council of the Bridgeport Public Schools has existed for 46 years. In all those years, the Bridgeport
Board of Education has NEVER interfered in the governance of the PAC. On Monday, January 12, 2015, in an
unprecedented move and after several parents associated with Excel Bridgeport (a pro-charter school organization)
made unproven and unsubstantiated allegations that the District Parent Advisory Council was prejudice and bullies,
Dave Hennessey, Joe Larcheveque, Hernan Illingworth, Kenneth Moales, Andre Baker, Kadisha Coates and Jacqui
Kelleher voted to support Interim-superintendent Fran Rabinowitz contacting their prestigious $300.00 per hour law
firm to investigate the PAC and to have her contact the Connecticut State Department of Education and the United
States Department of Education to determine how the BOE could intervene in the governance of PAC. Only Sauda
Baraka and Howard Garner stood up for the PAC and its right to self-governance.
This purely political move by Mayor Finchs BBOE and Superintendent must be addressed and we are calling on
Bridgeport Public School parents, grandparents, community members and community leaders in joining together to
express our dissatisfaction with both Interim-Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz and the Bridgeport Board of Educations
attempt to interfere with and control the very parents they represent.
When elected and public officials truly respect parents, they dont try to control them or tell them what they should or
should not do. They treat them as equals and respect their opinion and allow them to govern the parent association
independently and without interference.

PLEASE JOIN US IN SOLIDARITY TO TELL FRAN RABINOWITZ AND THE BBOE TO

STOP INTERFEREING WITH THE DISTRICT PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL.
