Welcome back! How can the spring semester already be here? It's
hard to believe that the seniors are graduating at the end of the
semester and that the juniors survived the first semester of the
program. Don't worry guys, it only gets worse! :)
This issue is dedicated to upcoming events, conferences, and
ways to get involved on campus and across San Francisco. We're
hitting the ground running this semester with many dietetics
events, including BADA's annual Mini Conference on January 31st,
SDA meetings, graduation applications,
internship applications, National Eating
Disorder Awareness Week, and The
Digestible Book Club. Do you live in Diablo
Valley? Then make sure to check out junior
James Griffith's article about the DVDA, on
page 3
Stay tuned to the SDA Blog for more
information about these and other ways KRISTINATODINI
to get involved!

DO YOU LIVE IN DIABLO VALLEY? GET INVOLVED WITH DVDA! i
As anew dietetics student, there are many groups and associations youcan |
join to become involved in the field, There are ten dietetics “districts” in
California, each with their own association. You may have already heard
about BADA, the Bay Area Dietetic Association, which serves San Francisco
and the surrounding counties. For those of us who live elsewhere in the
Bay Area, the Diablo Valley Dietetic Association (DVDA) is another great
option. The DVDA serves Contra Costa and Solano counties and meets most
months of the year at Kaiser in Walnut Creek
Irecently attended my first DVDA meeting and was greeted warmly by its
members, treated to a delicious group dinner, and listened to an engaging
presentation. In addition to the benefits of the general meetings, members
also receive a monthly newsletter, eligibility for scholarships, networking
opportunities with experienced dietitians and other professionals, and
much more, The next meeting is February 11th and membership dues are currently only $20. If
you are interested in joining the DVDA, please contact President Devin Robinette for more information
(devin. robinette@comeast.net).
