The under 11 girls' football squad had their first match on Wednesday, January

MYP Week Without Walls

This past week the teachers moved the learning from the classroom to the wider world.
Week Without Walls (WWW) is for our Grade 6 to 8 students in the Middle Years Programme
(MYP). This weeks focus is on the IBs mission to extend learning beyond the classroom walls.
The photography unit that some of our students participated in is aligned with the Global
Context of personal and cultural expression. Through photography, each student used the
opportunity to think critically, inquire into important issues, communicate well and take
calculated risks. It is an opportunity for the students to build friendships, develop team
building and leadership skills, travel to locations outside the school, experience unfamiliar
cultures, and participate in activity-based programs that include community service. All
caught on camera! Students learned about the art and craft of photography, and about the
controls of the camera. The WWW unit will culminate in the production of a series of photos
that represent the IB learner profile traits and a portfolio of the participants best pictures
using the taught skills. Keep a watch for an exhibition of the art that was created this week!
