The highest GDP it has had


between 1960 and 2013 has been 387.25, which is the most recent one. Its lowest was 2.76 in the
early 1960s, a significant difference in between. However, the way the economy has changed
throughout these last 50 years, the difference is reasonable but also shows how much Thailand
has grown. Thailands GDP currently represents 0.62 percent of the entire worlds economy.
Thailands primary language is Thai, also known as Siamese or Central Thai and its spoken by
over 20 million people. Thai is based on the Thai alphabet but many of the words used are from
Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer that makes it a composed language. The Thai culture comes from
China, Cambodia, Laos, and India with many of their beliefs influenced by Southeast Asia. The
dominant ethnic group is Thai, making up around 75-85% of the population. The principal export
is computers. Currently, the average household income in Thailand is 13,581 in U.S dollars.
Thailands currency is called Thai baht. The exchange rate 1 Thai baht is equal to 0.031 dollars
in the U.S.
The literacy rate in Thailand is 93.5%. Thailands education system is made up of: 3 years of
school from 3-years old to 5-years old, 6 years of elementary school from 6-years old to 11-years
old, 6 years of secondary school from 12-years old to 18-years old. Not all children have to
attend school from ages 3-5 but it is mandatory for them to finish school from primary to their 3rd
year of secondary school which the basic type of education. After the third year in secondary
school, it is optional for them to move on to higher level of education. At the end of every school
year, students are required to take a test that defines whether they move on to the next level of
education or repeat the same year. In order to move on to university-level of education, students
must pass the CUAS exam and based on their grade point average from their 4th year is
secondary school. Their grading system is based on 4 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.
In the Northern part of Thailand at the end of January and beginning of February, the
weather is cool and dry with a temperature of around 71 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Cambodia,
Laos, Malaysia and Myanmar are countries that border Thailand. Thailand is ruled as a
monarchy ruled by a King. They have elections once in a while, but if the King doesnt like the
results, he gets rid of the changes made. They have been under this type of government for over
700 years. The constitutions, however, have changed 17 times throughout their history. Some of
the countrys greatest authors are Sunthorn Phu, known for his poetry. Also Rama V and Rama
VI known for their non-fiction works. Some of Thailands greatest artists are Rirkrit Tiravanija,
Araya Rasdjarmerearnsook, Vasan Sitthiket, and Surasi kusolwong. Thailands main religion,
practiced by around 95% of the people, is Theravada Busshism which is also protected by the
constitution. Thai food is known for their spiciness which always goes with flat and wet-central
rice. Many of their food comes from Khmer cuisine and Lao recipes. Nowadays, women in
Thailand go to work just like men do. Before, due to Buddhist beliefs and cultural norms,
womens role was to stay home and take care of their families and their house. The median age is
33.7 in Thailand.
