NEW LONDON, N.H. - Champion of the 2006 Toronto International
Poetry Slam Competition and Emmy award winner, slam poet Carlos
Andres Gomez will be dropping rhythms at Colby- Sawyer College on
Feb 6.
Featured on HBOs Def Poetry Jams, Gomez leads poetry festivals
in numerous countries across three continents. Gomez is no stranger to
film cameras. Gomez made an appearance in Spike Lees film Inside
Man. The captivating voice of Gomez in his poems and films has led
him to his recent video game debut. Gomez played the voice of a
sheriff in the game Red Dead Redemption. Gomez made his first
appearance on television in 2006 when he starred in the film Slam
Planet directed by Kyle Fuller and Mike Henry.
The many awards that Gomez has earned in his lifetime so far
include a Rocky Mountain Emmy award, Slam King of New York Award,
Def Poet Jams Favorite Poet, and the Toronto Slam Poetry Award. At
thirty years old, Gomez continues to tour the planet bedazzling
audiences with his passionate words.
Gomez began writing in high school after an influential poet had
visited his school. A seemingly average student, Gomez moved ten
times before completing his high school career. The ten moves brought

him to four different countries, each country expanding his perception

of the world and influencing his work.
