MynameisAllieCauleyandIhavegrownupinanincrediblylovingfamily.Ihavemovednine
timesandIhavelivedinsevendifferenthouses.IhaveattendedPineLakesincetheeighthgrade.I
spendmostofmytimeplayingtennis,workingonthisyearsyearbook,andstudyingforAPCalculus.I
grewupinanencouragingandprosperoushomewithparentswhotaughtbehowtobeextremely
involvedinthecommunity.Everyyear,Icompleteovera100hoursofcommunityserviceatourlocal
soupkitchen.Ialsoenjoytoplaysoccerinthespring,Ihaveaverystrongpassionforanimals,andI
havebeenavegetariansincebeforethestartofmyeighthgradeyear.Mybiggestpassion,however,is
sharingmythoughtsonpaperwiththepeoplearoundme.
MypersonalgoalforthePrideProjectistoeducatemyselfonbecomingajournalist.Ihavea
passionforinteractingwithpeopleandhelpingthemsharetheirstoryonpaper.Overthesummer,I
composedafulllengtharticleonourlocalsoupkitcheninordertopublishintheLakeNorman
Womensmagazine.Writingthisarticletooktime,notonlywithmymentor,butalsopolishingitonmy
ownagenda.AfterIcompletedmyarticle,IworkedhandinhandwithMs.Hallmantoeditandshape
thispieceinorderforthisarticletomeethermagazinesstandards.AsofOctober11th,Icompleted
anhourwithmymentorreviewingmycompletedarticleforpublicationinthe2014Novemberissue.
Notonlyisitahugehonortobeallowedtopublishmypieceinthisissue,butIwillhavetheopportunity
tosharethisarticlewiththeMooresvilleSoupKitchenswebsiteandtoraiseawarenessofthepeople
inneedinawidespreadway.IntheupcomingDecemberissue,IwillworkhandinhandwithMs.
HallmanonDecemberscoverstory.Thisentailsinterviewingthewomeninthestoryandhavingmy
writingincludedinthecoverstory.InadditiontomyfirstarticleandhelpingwithDecemberscover
story,IwillwriteanarticleonMs.VickieTraynum(directoroftheMooresvilleSoupKitchen)withthe
helpofMs.HallmanfortheJanuaryissue.ThiswillinvolveinterviewingMs.Traynumonmyownand
shapingmyownpiecearoundJanuarysthemeofresolutionandfirstthingsfirst.Thisconnectstomy
careerfocusbygivingmeanopportunitytoexperiencetheprofessionofjournalisminabusinesssetting.
ThearticlesthatwillbepublishedintheupcomingNovemberandJanuaryissuewillbeanindepthlook

ontheMooresvilleSoupKitchenandMs.Traynumthroughmyeyesasavolunteer.Iwillgivereaders
adifferentoutlookonwhatoursoupkitchengivestoourcommunity.ThematerialsIneededforthis
projectwereacomputertowriteonandamentortohelpmecompletethearticle.Writingthese
articleswilltake11015hoursofinterviewing,prewriting,writing,andediting.Asmentionedabove,
myproductwillbecompletedinfinalitybymymentorsJanuarydeadline.Inadditiontothesearticles,I
plantositinoninterviewsforthismagazinesannualWomenofWillnominations.Thisentails
attendingmeetings,helpingattheannualluncheonthisOctober,andbeingformallyinvitedtoattendand
helpatthefinalawardsceremonyonDecember27th.Iwillpresentmycompletedproductintheform
ofthemagazinesthatmyarticleswillbepublishedin.
