Our neighborhood alderman John Pope:
Is making safe streets a top priority by supporting community-policing
programs and hiring more police officers, adding more blue-light safety cameras and working with the Chicago Police Department to move officers from behind desks to the streets to crack down on gangs and crime
Stands up for our neighborhood schools and worked with community
leaders to start construction on a new, cutting-edge elementary school on the East Side to alleviate overcrowding at other schools
Voted to raise the minimum wage in Chicago to $13 an hour
Is bringing new businesses and good-paying jobs to our neighborhoods.
John worked with business leaders to add a new shift to the Ford plant and to build a Marianos store on the former U.S. Steel/Lakeside site
Stopped landfill owners from using our community as their dumping
ground and has already forced one petcoke storage facility to close by passing strict new regulations, making it tougher for them to do business
