How does your media product represent particular social

groups?
My media product doesnt specifically highlight or pick out a particular social
group. However there is a representation of age. Youth in particular is addressed
through the opening sequence; all the characters played are of the same age.
Through the nature of the relationship discovered in the opening sequence
between the two victims, its clear to see that there is a close bond. The physical
appearance of the characters, suggests to the audience that they are young. The
clothing of the two characters isnt clearly differentiated because they both come
from the same age group. Also this has been done to highlight that they are
close friends, therefore not only share similar qualities but taste in clothing. The
killer on the other hand doesnt represent an age. The atmosphere, which is
created in this opening sequence regarding age, is that teenagers are typically
conveyed as the stupid and nave group, which get into trouble first. This is
because they are less responsible and more reckless in comparison to adults.
Most movies which target teenagers, address this, for example in the movies,
The Cabin in the Woods, Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream. This moreover
suggests that teenagers are presented in a troublesome way. To show teenagers
instigate problems or are trouble makers, my media product is based on
revenge, which highlights that there has been an issue/problem, and my opening
sequence is showing the result of that issue. This links into the idea that
teenagers cause problems, however we dont see the problem or get to know
what it is in the opening sequence, showing the enigma code.
Warner bros and Paramount pictures seem like the type of companies, which
would distribute my media product. This is because, one of the movies which my
opening sequence was based and inspired by was Friday 13 th., This was
produced by warner bros.

My media product is aimed initially for teenagers. Due to the social group in my
opening sequence being young people, it relates to the audience because they
see similarity regarding age and even the characters mentality. The reason why
my opening sequence is targeted at this age group is because teenagers are
easier for me and my group to relate to and finding the cast and building a
storyline is easier.
