Teacher Workshop
Thursday January 15th, 2015
Directions: Read the scenario below. In a small group, discuss the problem given.
While discussing the problem, take time to share your personal experiences
related to this problem. First, be an active listener and then discuss some solutions
to the problem.
You have a large class of 22 students with different levels of English proficiency.
The students that have the most difficulty in class are easily distracted and are
distracting to others. They can be noisy, and they dont show a lot of effort.
How do you:
1. Motive them and keep them on track with the rest of the class?
2. Maintain a respectful environment in the classroom?
3. Make sure that you dont spend too much time on classroom management?
As a group, try to come to a consensus about the best ways to address the
problem. Then be prepared to share your answers, and may be personal
experiences, with the class.
1- Keep them busy, motivation, clear instructions, bring different activities as
games, videos, songs, others. Bring extra activities.
2- Set the rules since the very beginning and discuss with them. The teacher
respects the students and the students respect the teacher and classmates.
3- How we organize the lessons?
This is not only disciplines rules. The classroom management is the teacher
responsibility and the discipline the students responsibility. It deals on how
we behave. It is about impulsive management and self-control.
It is for an effective classroom management knows what you want and what
you dont want.
