The University of Alabama baseball team made

plenty of history this weekend when Mississippi
Valley State came to play at Sewell-Thomas
Stadium.
Two feats were decades old.
First, Alabama shut out the Delta Devils in all
three games, the first time it had done that to
an opponent in a series since 1912.
"It's cool to be a part of history in that way,"
Alabama right fielder Ben Moore said of the
series shutout. "It says a lot about the pitching
staff and defense behind it."

Second was the highlight of the weekend as Justin Kamplain, Jay Shaw and Geoffrey
Bramblett combined for a no-hitter in Saturday's 7-0 win. It gave UA its first nineinning no hitter in 72 years. It was also the first time in school history three pitchers
combined for a nine-inning no hitter.
It's last no-hitter in any fashion came in a six-inning perfect game at South Florida in
1993.
"It's cool to be a part of history in that way," Alabama right fielder Ben Moore said of
the series shutout. "It says a lot about the pitching staff and defense behind it."
For the season, Alabama is rolling along on its best winning streak of five in a row.
It's UA's best streak since winning six in a row from March 17-24, 2013.
There was history for UA coach Mitch Gaspard, too. Friday's win was his 350th as a
head coach. That number rose to 352 career wins and 142 as Alabama's head coach
after this weekend's series sweep.
After the series sweep, Alabama has held opponents scoreless for 30 2/3 innings
dating back to the sixth inning of the Alabama-Auburn game in Montgomery last
week.
Alabama will look to continue that streak, and find more history, as it takes on
Samford at 6:05 p.m. today. Nick Eicholtz will get the start for Alabama.
