Men’s

Pensacola, Florida - The Shorter Hawks soccer team took on the University of West Florida
Argonauts in the sunshine state for their 5th conference matchup of the season. Charles Garcia
got the ball rolling, scoring the first goal of the match at 6:49, assisted by Mattia Maiello. The
Argonauts answered back after going scoreless for the first 35 minutes, proceeding to go on a 5
goal run. Mattia Maiello scored the first of his two for the night roughly 16 minutes into the
second half. Maiello scored the final goal of the night for the Hawks with 10 minutes left in the
match. Despite not coming away with the ‘W’, Shorter played hard from whistle to whistle.

Mobile, Alabama - The Shorter Men’s soccer team made a stop in Mobile, Alabama on their last
road trip to take on the Badgers of Spring Hill College. The Hawks got off to a slow start with the
Badgers scoring 3 unanswered goals in the first half. The score was 0-3 at the end of the first
half. Junior defender Sebastian Troya found the back of the net for his first career goal in an
attempt to stop the bleeding. The Spring Hill Badgers came back with 2 more goals, leaving the
score at 1-5. The Hawks will be back on the road Friday, October 6th in Cleveland, Tennessee
to take on the Lee University Flames.

Women’s
Pensacola, Florida - Women’s soccer hit the road for their 5th GSC matchup of the season.
Their opponents, The University of West Florida Argonauts, unfortunately got the best of the
Lady Hawks this time around. Shorter was scored on within the first 10 minutes of the match,
and despite their best efforts, they were never able to gain traction. Lady Hawks soccer lost 0-5,
putting their current record at 0-5-0 in conference play and 1-8-0 overall for the season.

Mobile, Alabama - Shorter concluded this road trip with a stop at Spring Hill College in Mobile,
Alabama. The Lady Hawks lost 0-5 to the Spring Hill Badgers in the first matchup of October.
Being edged out in nearly every category, the Hawks didn’t have much possession, making it
hard to get the ball rolling. Freshman Reagan Clough made 5 saves in the effort to recover from
an early goal deficit. The Hawks will take on the Lady Flames of Lee University on Friday,
October 6th in Cleveland, Tennessee.
