The Renaissance in

Europe.

Politics Government learned how to

tax

people. The perseveration of liberty, law, and

justice was challenged by Renaissance
theorists. Stated that the central task of
government was to maintain security and
peace. Italian city states were transformed
from communes to territorial states.
Renaissance was a time period where long
standing beliefs were tested. A
transformation from the middle ages to the
modern world because of science.

Economics
Italian cities became important trade and
commercial centers. Trading grew in the states.
Christianity remained important in the renaissance
culture. The Medici Bank affected major cities in
Europe. They loaned money and operated mines,
mills, and other commercial activities. They made
huge profits and used them to finance culture
activities and political activities. With their wealth
they became the unofficial, yet undisputed rulers of
florence.

Science
Some significant inventions in the Renaissance were the printing press, compass, and
gunpowder. Printing press was introduced in the late 1400s. Andreas Vesalius of Belgium began
dissecting cadavers and made many discoveries about the human anatomy. Leonardo Da Vinci
combined art and science in his studies of nature and structures. Most scientific advancements
were made by scholastic thinkers and not humanists. Humanists were logical thinkers while
scholastic thinkers thought outside of the box. This lead to the testing of long standing beliefs,
and a lot of other things like how things worked in the universe or on earth.

(Most of my research focused on the political, economic, and science of Europe and what
advancements the Renaissance brought to Europe. The first picture is the printing press and
the second picture is the symbol of the Medici.)
