This is a giant jellyfish that


lives in the deep ocean.
Its scientific name is
Stygiomedusa gigantea.
It is carnivore
Its body is brown and is
formed by an umbrellashaped head that can grow
till one and a half meter
width and four tentacles of
six meters long.

Did you know?


It was discovered in 1910 and
since then it was only seen
115 times.
Its tentacles doesnt give
hives, it uses it for catch its
victims.
It was seen all over the
world .
It has a symbiotic fish that
cleans it and the giant
jellyfish doesnt eat it.

The last time it was seen


was in Mexico on may
19th of 2009.
It was the first time that
the scientifics film it in
its natural habitat (1500
meters deep).
The film was made by
the Snake Project that
united scientificts from
differents specialities.
