Analysis of Un Recuerdo A Mi Pueblo

Rizal wrote this poem when he was attending school in Ateneo


Municipal in Manila. It was unbelievable that a boy aged 15 could write
this beautiful and masterpiece poem. Truly, Rizal deserve this title as
our country's hero and genius. Rizal dedicated the poem "Un Recuerdo
A Mi Pueblo" to his hometown, Calamba Laguna. In the poem, he sadly
reminisces about his hometown and its natural surroundings, including
the lagoons, the white lilies, the lakes, rivers and woodlands he
explored as a child during his lifetime. He tells in the poem that being a
child or in its childhood days, he seemed to be symbolized by
happiness, innocence and a god loving child. And in the last stanzas of
his poem, he states a farewell but the good memories he had in his
hometown shall never fade. Even though Rizal is now at peace, his
writings and masterpieces shall be remembered by filipinos.
