Rizal's poem "In Memory of My Town" recalls memories of the author's boyhood. It
also tells us about Rizal's memories, which shaped his character and ideals. Rizal had the
happiest and most beautiful memories of the town, the kindness and friendliness of the people
of Calamba, as well as their industry. He wishes he could turn back the clock and spend more
time doing what he used to do, with the people he used to be with, and experiencing the
sensations he experienced as a child. He yearns for his childhood innocence, and the "beauty
of nature" is a reality on his poem. He'll never forget where he grew up. Nature, as we all
know, is the only source of happiness. His boyhood in his hometown is described in
"Memories of My Town."
Everyone has their own motivation and inspiration for creating something, and our
works and pieces are no exception. As he composed his writings, Rizal had his own
motivations and inspirations, the most important of which was his love for the motherland.
This is why Rizal created this poem, which recalls his upbringing in Calamba, Laguna. Rizal
had the fondest and most beautiful memories of the town, recalling the generosity and
friendliness of the Calamba people as well as their industry. Those recollections had a big
impact on his personality and morals. Memories of My Town is a complex investigation of
how city residents view their surroundings. People in urban environments interact with the
environment on a variety of levels, with the time dimension posing a particular challenge.
The urban structures and environments might be viewed as a form of communal history, as
bearers or witnesses of times gone by. However, only city inhabitants are aware of urban
time, not just the time they live in but also the time that has passed via their memories.
Rizals is about the poet remembering his youth. It discusses his childhood activities
and the people with whom he interacted. It also depicts how he felt when he was a child. As
he writes this poem, Rizal reflects on his youth. Therefore, The Poem - Jose's "Memories of
My Town" Rizal's poetry, is a poem in which his childhood recollections are idyllic and
depict the love of nature and family (Guerrero, Leon Ma. (1998). This poem is about a person
who chooses to be alone in the contemporary world and meditate on nature.
Dr. Jose P. Rizal, who was just 15 years old at the time, wrote this poem in 1876. Jose
Rizal, when he was eight years old, composed this poem to his beloved hometown of
Calamba, Laguna. Jose Rizal's poem "In Memory of My Place" or "Un Recuerdo A Mi
Pueblo" portrays the writer's nostalgia for the town of his birth, Calamba in Laguna. Also, the
poem was frequently taught in Philippine schools to highlight Rizal's precociousness and
early growth of his nationalistic aspirations. When the poem was written in 1876, the
Philippine writer was a 15-year-old student. Rizal had gone to the Ateneo Municipal in
Manila to study (Ben davis,2021).
For me, it is a poem in which his childhood memories are idyllic and symbolize the
love of nature and family. This poem is about a person who chooses to be alone in the
contemporary world and meditate on nature. Then, as he sits, a sudden remembrance of all
the things he regarded as pain comes to him, and he realizes that they were what they were,
and it is his decision to view them as he once did. The fact on his poem is the "beauty of
nature." He would always remember where he lived. As we all know, the only thing that may
bring enjoyment is nature. Furthermore, as he writes that poem, Rizal recalls his youth.
Hence, He wishes he could turn back the clock and spend more time doing what he used to
do, with the people he used to be with, and experiencing the sensations he experienced as a
child. He longs to reclaim his innocence, as well as the wonderful sensation of praying to
God Almighty with the faith of a small kid, whose heart is thought to be the purest of all.
