Photosynthesis

Craig Brooks Jr.

Overall Chemical Structure

6CO2+ 12H2O + light energy C6H12O6+6O2+6H2O

Multiple Reactions
Photsynthesis is made up of two different
reactions: Light and Dark (calvin cycle)

Light Reactions
O2 is released from water and not carbon
dioxide.

Stomata
CO2 enters through the stomata and O2 is
released through it.

Light Reactions cont.

Light reactions use the sun to make ATP and
NADPH.

Light Reactions
The ATP and NADPH created by the light
reactions are sent off to the calvin cycle.

Calvin Cycle
The first thing that takes place in the calvin
cycle is carbon fixation.

Dark Reactions
After carbon fixation, carbon is reduced to
carbohydrate by the addition of electrons.

The end of the cycle

Calvin cycle occurs in most plants during
daylight, because only then can the light
reactions provide the NADPH and ATP.
