T: Bosnia needed more help.
We needed arms. We needed people to defend us. We needed
the UN. We had no one when our country was wiped out. I remember
the day I saw my family get killed. Somehow I survived these deadly
days, but my family could have too if you wouldve helped. The safe
areas the UN declared obviously failed. They ethnically cleansed my
cities. Why did they think that declaring safe areas would stop the
Serbs from doing what they want? Would safe areas have stopped
Hitler? No, of course not.
The problem is they didnt treat this like genocide when, in fact,
it was. I think I can speak for my country and say that we felt very
betrayed by, what is supposed to be, our backbone. I dont understand
why they didnt want to intervene when it was their job. When people
dont do their job, they get fired right? Lucky for you, you dont need to
deal with any consequences, but we did.
This event was the hardest thing Ive ever had to go through.
Why should I be wanted dead because of my religion? It is my goal to
always accept people for who they are and to always forgive. Tito
would have never let this happen and the worst date next to June 11,
1995 is 1980 because we lost our greatest leader. All Milosevic wanted
was for everyone to be just like him when we were fine how we were.
To this day my country is still filled with fear that we will have to
go through this again. We dont know what we will do if we are
attacked in the future. All we want is to recover from the terrible
events that happened 20 years ago. We need the UN to make sure that
we are always safe and protected. It is supposed to be their

responsibility to keep the peace from being messed with and I want my
country to be given what they were never given before. Security.
