Dear Colleague: The District has already begun to develop a staffing plan for the 2015-2016 school year. Among the factors that will be considered will be teachers preferences regarding their teaching assignments (e.g., which school, which program, which grade.) The collective bargaining agreement between the District and the teachers union establishes April 1 as the date by which requests for transfers and reassignments are due. Written requests for transfer and reassignment must be received in the Office of Human Resources and Labor Relations by April 1 in order to be considered timely. If you wish to work in a different assignment or different school, this is your opportunity to be considered for such a change. You should not wait for a vacancy in the desired grade, subject area, or school before requesting a change. Teachers hoping for a change in tenure area (e.g., from special education to elementary, or from math to science) should make timely request for such a change. Such appointments to new tenure areas require participation in the Districts screening and interviewing procedures. Transfers and reassignments often have an impact on the educational programs of one or more schools. I urge you to discuss your preferences with your principal or supervisor. Teachers request will be shared with members of the administrative team shortly after April 1. Sincerely, Robert Van Keuren ALL STUDENTS ACHIEVING THEIR DREAMS
