Dear :

The K-8 Math Mentor Program is a statewide mentor network that supports the
professional development of mathematics teachers in grades Kindergarten through eight.
We serve predominantly high need schools as defined by the federal government in the
No Child Left Behind law.

Because of your commitment to professional development and excellence in your field,

you have been invited to become a Math Mentor.

I have attached information related to the kind of services we provide and what is
expected from participating districts/schools in return. If you have an interest in possibly
joining the network, please return the attached form to me declaring this interest.

New mentors are accepted once a year, usually during the summer months (June -
August). They will be trained by regional Lead Mentors in early fall to conduct the staff
development activities in your district/school. In accepting new mentors priority is given
to teachers/staff developers from high need districts/schools when positions become
available. The network cannot support more than 80 teachers from around the state.

Sincerely,

Paula M. Drake, Director
