NDEP overview

NDEP or National Drug Education Program aims to lessen

and eliminate drug abuse for the goodness of everyone. It
seeks to prevent youth from being lured into the hands of
illegal drugs. NDEP endeavors to raise awareness about the
effects of drug use in the most vulnerable populations
children and adolescents.
As provided by Republic Act 9165,
otherwise known as the Comprehensive
Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the NDEP
comes as complimentary program to the
governments campaign involving all the
sectors of the society to take action and
turn the country drug-free.
NDEP is designed for all schools to
work collaboratively with the schools. As
part of NDEP, Peace Corner was also
implemented. Along with it is the Random
Drug Test. In the year 2003, the
Department of Education ordered the administration of Random
Drug Test (RDT) in the schools with the help of the Department
of Health (DOH) personnel who should actually do the RDT. This
RDT is actually costly but is necessary for the sake of a drugfree community.

What are Illegal Drugs?

A drug is any chemical you take that affects the way your
body works. Illegal drugs are drugs which have been controlled
by the government and are illegal in certain situations (a
person is allowed to have them). These drugs are restricted for
public use due to its unhealthy effects
on the person using it.
The state shall lay down
legal actions towards users
and pushers (someone who
sells or deals illegal drugs) if
proven guilty of the said
action.

Illegal drugs does
