IRON SUPPLEMENTATION with FOLIC ACID NARRATIVE REPORT

Girls are one of the high risk groups for iron deficiency anemia, Schools iron

supplementation program is a preventive strategy for female students in high schools.

Iron supplementation programs will have positive impacts on the students like sufficient

amount of iron is critically important for normal function of the vital organs of the human

body. Because Iron deficiency will leads to growth retardation, fatigue, cognitive

disorders, poor concentration, decreased the immune system and subsequently it ends in

mortality

Vigan National High School West is very lucky to be a recipient of the drug

(ferrous sulfate with folic acid) for our students, the clinic teacher with the principal and

the classroom advisers spearheaded the distribution of the said vitamins/supplementation.

Each student received tablets given the proper instruction to take it once every week of

the month. The clinic teacher with the adviser ensured that each drug will be taken

religiously by the students. The clinic teacher also gave a short discussion on the

importance of taking iron supplements and like what will be expected after taking in the

vitamins, Proper health education has been emphasized, Health opportunities like this are

very important to help sustain good health among our students
