Motivation/Introduction:
Teacher will read My Place by Nadia
Wheatly.
A class discussion will form around the
different people who have now settled in
Australia.
This discussion will relate back to the first
people to arrive by ship to colonise Australia.
Lesson:
Students will be given a picture card of either a
convict or a free settler.
The card corresponds to the person that they
will be creating a blog about.
Students will have to research the aspects of:
- clothing
- diet
- leisure
- language
- housing

From this they will create a blog entry entiltled:


My First Week in Australia
They will use Kidblog to create their blog.
They will be allowed to use text images and
videos that they see appropriate to
communicate their characters week.
End:
Students will take screen shots of their blogs
on their ipad, and export them to the camera
roll. From here they will add their screen shots
to their History book on Bookcreator.
The teacher will choose a convict and a free
settler to read out their blog entry and show
the images/videos that they have used to
support their writing.
