EUROMICRO report

Journées d'electronique 1985 real time processing: Application in control and

signal processing

Available online 9 July 2003.

Abstract

Thanks to the advent of fast processors, specialized hardware architectures,

powerful algorithms and dedicated softwares, real time processing is increasingly
applicable to advanced industrial control and signal processing tasks. With this
rapid evolution, design and application, engineers of such high performance
systems, as well as project managers, are faced with hard decisions on what
technologies and methods to employ.

The aim of the “Journées d'Electronique 1985”, held in Lausanne from October 15–
17, 1985, was to review the state of the art and to discuss the current trends of
this ropical subject. Coverage at the workshop included: algorithms and software
for real time processing, microprocessors in control applications, numerical
control, programmable controllers, industrial networks, signal processing hardware
and development tools, speech processing application and real time image
processing and pattern recognition.

We present below a description of the lectures delivered at this workshop.
