importance in a teaching and learning process in brief and meaningful way.

1. CONVENTIONAL LEARNING MATERIAL

 Blackboards and chalks
o Blackboard is one of the very old and most used teaching aids in the
schools along with the text books. The blackboard has been the most
handy and useful tool of a teacher in the classroom. The teacher has to
take a white chalk to describe the things on the blackboard or for
writing the notes of lesson on it for the children to copy.

 Text books
o The prescribed texts books of studies for particular classes in a school
have been the other very useful tool in the hands of the teacher for
centuries whereby a teacher uses the text book to read and explain to
the students everything contained in the text book lessons.

 Charts, pictures and posters

o For easy understanding of the lessons, the teachers use teaching aids
like the charts, pictures and posters which they display in the walls of
the classrooms. These not only decorate the walls of the classrooms but
also are important tool for teaching in the classrooms.

 Maps, Atlases and globes

o Teaching of geography in the classrooms will be meaningless without
the use of these teaching aids. The lessons in geography becomes
realistic when the teachers use wall maps, atlases and globes to make
the student understand and know various geographical concepts and to
know the locations of various places in the world.

 Flashcards, flip cards and worksheets

o Flash cards and flip cards are another useful teaching aid used
especially in small classes to teach vocabulary and important concepts.
Worksheets are an important aid to the students to work out the
exercises given in these worksheets.

Wrap up
Read the statement below. Answer the questions by explaining your thoughts briefly
and meaningfully.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed learning in many unprecedented ways.

Students had to not just move to distance learning but also keep a social distance from
their friends and family. It was quite challenging for some to adjust to the ‘new normal’
and missed the in-person interaction with their teachers. How do you feel overall about
the distance education?

As COVID-19 presents an uncertain future for everyone that is affected by it, the
people, including the students, have to adjust to what we call the "new normal."

As a student, my online and modular learning experience hasn't been great. This new learning
system has its interesting, such as more time to do assignments in the comfort of your home, not
having to wake up so early to go to school, and ensuring the safety of the staff as well as the students.
Despite these benefits, there are also downsides of this method of learning. For example, I have many
responsibilities at home, such as cooking meals, cleaning the house, watering the plants, and etc. I

also find it harder to have any motivation when I'm doing school assignments. When I'm surrounded
by all these other temptations like my phone or other electronics, I lose any will to do work.

The environment at home is different from the workspace students have at school. A
classroom provides a quiet academic place to do work while a household can be loud and cause
students to lose concentration or not even work at all. Additionally, I find that simply reading the
instructions for an assignment or lesson isn't as engaging as when it's explained by a teacher. The
information is much easier to retain when heard rather than simply rushing to read the directions.

If I could choose, in the future I would not like to do more online learning because I like
having a teacher physically there to help me when I need it. Having a teacher presence helps me focus
more on school work, engages me into learning, and the teachers help guide me through the work and
are there for any questions I have.
