Del Mar Middle School 105 Miraflores Avenue Tiburon, CA 94920 February 23, 2015 Harry Johns Alzheimers Association Address N/A (I couldnt find one) Dear Mr. Johns, I am sending this letter suggest ideas for events held for Alzheimers Disease awareness. My name is Irvin Safavi, and I am currently in the 8th grade. The work, the Alzheimers Association does, is spectacular, and I respect the great amount of results produced from the association. Finding what causes, can stop, and prevent the horrible disease known as Alzheimers disease, or A.D, is a very hard task. Over 5 million people, in just America alone, have the disease. It also seems that the disease is at risk of becoming more common in the near future, so I am very happy, actions are taking place to stop it. Everyday, my grandmother is losing more and more of her memory, but a small part of me knows that somewhere, some people are putting so much effort into events, to make her, as well as millions of others, well. I believe this association is really making a difference in peoples lives, due to the amount of awareness raised during events. These events are walks, football, entertainment benefits, and fundraisers. It really makes a difference that this organization, lets millions of people know about patients, such as my grandmother, go through, in this disease. In that sense, I hope you continue your undying passion for solving this problem. I also hope you listen to my advice of the use of events, as I dont feel they reflect the disease. While I am more than happy that these events are raising money towards the disease, I dont feel that these have much relation to the disease. I suppose another event, to make others empathize, and therefore, care about the solving the disease, is needed. One idea is to have the people go experience what it would be like to have the disease, and live the remainder of their life, living with it. Thats what I believe would work better than other events. I really appreciate you reading my letter, and I truly hope there are a cure to find, as well as prevention towards the illness. I believe that introducing a new event, centered on knowledge of the ailment, is going to really make people care about the disease. I really hope you
