Period 2 Del Mar Middle School 105 Avenida Miraflores Tiburon, CA 94920 February 23, 2015 Volunteer Coordinator SF Marin Food Bank 75 Digital Drive Novato, CA 94949 Dear Volunteer Coordinator: My name is Stella Wong, and I am an 8th grader at Del Mar Middle School. I am contacting you to inform you on my thoughts regarding the work SF Marin Food Bank has done and how I would like to contribute to ending hunger. The Food Bank has taken many actions to help end hunger in San Francisco and Marin, from providing families food to holding annual events to help raise awareness hunger. I am really glad to see your organization make so much progress to help the people in this community. In just one week of Thanksgiving last year, the Food Bank distributed 1 million pounds of food for up to 144,000 people. There are also many employees and volunteers who helped to make this possible. I can see the impact SF Marin Food Bank has made through your distribution of food to an average of 30,000 households each day, which adds up to more than 147,000 people. This is an amazing feat that is not easily achieved. I would be grateful if you could send employees from your organization to spend time going to schools to raise more awareness to students about how huge of a problem hunger is, especially in areas where its less common to experience hunger. In addition, I would be pleased to contribute to the SF Marin Food Bank by volunteering at the Food Bank. I can help package food that are being sent to households, sort donations and assemble grocery boxes. I would like to congratulate the SF Marin Food Bank because your organization has been a great contribution to many families in San Francisco and Marin, but I believe more awareness should be raised in order to better alleviate hunger. Once again, I am happy to come and volunteer as well. Thank you for reading this letter. Sincerely,
