Subject: English Language Arts Outcomes: The Student will be able to properly discern between reliable and superfluous sources of information. The Student will be able to justify the appropriateness of a resource for academic use. Exercises: 1) The students will perform a guided database search using protected descriptors such as peer-reviewed sources and date narrowing functions. 2) The students will complete a website assessment scavenger hunt. Students will be given a list of specifications and information to look for when assessing a website and will need to document the information as they find it. When they are complete, students will use their website assessment scavenger hunt to determine if the source they were assigned is appropriate for academic use.
