The electrical machines are widely used in every type of industry in recent decades and fulfilling the
requirements of industry. Our challenge is to design a motor which exhibits greater torque, higher
efficiency, higher power density and smooth operation. The Axial Flux Motor (AFM) has gained
prominent position in modern industry and is being deployed vigorously.
The AFM has different construction from radial flux motor and can be designed with two stator and one
rotor. In this topology of machine, the main flux is directed along shaft. The rotor consists of skewed
Aluminium bars. The performance evaluation of AFM is carried out using finite element analysis giving
appropriate results. The prototype model of 1.35 hp AFM would be fabricated.
The AFM has high power density, good torque and has vast number of applications in modern trend like
hybrid electric vehicles, washing machines, wind mills and small ratings domestic pumps.
