Overall Comments:
MS. Boutlier showed good growth in her two week placement. She has a good handle on management and the students responded to her with respect and enthusiasm.. I look forward to the next three week

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Ms. Boutilier was involved in all aspects of the duties of the school. She attended a full day PD session
with staff and assisted with supervision. She sought out opportunities to find out what other staff
responsibilities were. She kept her lessons and work neatly in her binder.

# Days Late: 0

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Ms. Boutilier demonstrated a high degree of initiative and enthusiasm during her first block of
placement with me. She was always respectful towards the students and made her expectations clear.
She established cues for the students to gain their attention and was consistent in her approach. As
time goes on she will be better able to meet and consider the need of those students with IEPs and to
create more opportunities for students to use higher level thinking and questioning skills.

Makes adjustments to meet student needs (Identified, ELD, ELL,...)

Assumes professional responsibility (the planning binder, duties, meetings,

3. Ongoing Professional Learning

Demonstrates commitment to professional growth

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Ms. Boutilier was clear in her written planning and generally in her discussions with students. As time
goes on she will become more familiar with the curriculum and the challenges of teaching a split grade.
She had little opportunity for assessment but will, be doing more assessment in her last three weeks
with me. She struggles to some degree to modify/accommodate tasks for the students with IEPS. This
will come with time. She was well prepared with all the materials necessary for her lessons and had
tasks ready to go for consolidating some of the learning. She needs to work on providing more practice
for students and ensuring understanding before moving on.

N/A

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Ms. Boutilier created interesting and engaging introductory activities for the students. She used her
own background and past experiences to "hook" the students. Her use of technology is sound. She
sometimes moves too quickly through a lesson and assumes students understand what she has said
because they say they do. Getting students to repeat back their understanding in their own words is a
strategy she may want to consider. Her pacing is quite good and she is quite flexible when things
interrupt or interfere. I would suggest that she consider her use of vocabulary on written sheets as not
all students may understand or the words are outside their schema. She should also consider keeping
the fonts used simple and clear, and ensure information is clearly presented. Think of all the ways a
child could misunderstand.

N/A

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Ms. Boutilier maintained and enforced current classroom routines as well as developing her own
techniques. She worked hard to be consistent with her approach and the students responded to her
positively. Her verbal communication skills are excellent and her voice is clear and calm. Her
questioning techniques were good and she showed progress in using prompts and giving students
time to think. There was clear evidence of mutual respect in the classroom and she created a warm
and welcoming environment.
