1st Grade Lesson Plan (2/23-24)


1. Bounce High, Bounce Low
TEKS: 117.6; 1.2A- the student is expected to sing or play a classroom

instrument independently or in groups.


Objective: The student will demonstrate la through the use of singing
and playing a game.
Materials: Basketball.
A. Teacher will review song by rote
I.
Teacher will sing first half of song
II.
Students will echo back first half of song
III.
Teacher will sing second half of song
IV.
Students will echo back second half of song
V.
Teacher will sing the whole song with students
B. Teacher will have students stand on a letter on the alphabet rug
- Teacher will grab basketball
C. Teacher will explain when to bounce the ball
- Bounce the ball on the word bounce. Once you say bounce
a third time, you bounce pass the ball to someone in the
circle.
D. Teacher will review rules of the game
Once you have passed the ball you must sit down. Once
everyone is sitting down the game is over.

Students will began playing game

Transition: Teacher will have students sit back in their assigned spots and
begin singing song for next activity.
2. Labeling La

TEKS: 117.6; 1.4B- The student is expected to create short rhythmic


patterns.

Objective: The student will use solfege symbols to differentiate between


la, so, and mi.
Materials: None.
A. Learn Song
I.
Teacher will sing first four lines of song
o Teacher will show la signal as indicated in book.
II.
Students will echo back
III.
Teacher will sing last four lines
o Teacher will do actions as indicated in book.
IV.
Teacher will sing whole song with actions
V.
Students will echo back
o Teacher will assist and repeat song for clear
understanding
B. Solfege Patterns
I.
Teacher will sing and do various solfege patterns
o Mi, So, La patterns
o Start easy and progressively become a little more
challenging
II.
Students echo back and do solfege symbols
III.
Teacher will ask for volunteers to come up and present their
own patterns
Transition: Teacher will start the Quiet Game.
3. Closing
A. Teacher will start the Quiet Game.
B. Teacher will call one row at a time to line up
C. Students will line up
D. Teacher will walk students out of classroom
