During a job interest fair at Saint Marys College of California in December 2014, I met with Jesus Alvarez, a
special agent for the DEA. He spoke to me about his job and the steps he took to get there, and one of the
positions was as a Correctional Officer for the State of California. He mentioned a full-time position for 24
months with your company that would give me the cutting edge to become a DEA specialist. I would like to get
in touch with you, set up a meeting, and discuss an opportunity to work as a Correctional Officer with Kern
County. As a Criminal Justice major, I have strived to learn every possible detail about the government and what
each job entails. Due to the prestige and determination displayed by every Correctional Officer, I believe that I
have the skills to succeed in this field and the personality to deal with the most severe scenarios. Furthermore, I
believe my cultural background and proficiency in Spanish can help reduce the negative stigma associated with
government officers.
Although the position is offered full-time for 24 months, I believe I will make a huge contribution by
connecting with the general public I would interact with daily and ensure integrity is upheld in the government.
