Every week you will write approx. 6 pages, which will be work-shopped in class.
Towards the end of the process, your script will be submitted to parent-readers for editing.
At the end of the process, you may choose to submit your play for consideration to be
performed during Drama Week. Nine plays will be performed during that week.
Please consult the timeline below to plan your writing. It is very important that you MEET
these DEADLINES in order to write a fully developed script which can be considered for Drama
Week.
TIMELINE:
Step 1: Fri, March 13th: character sketch, outline or map for the play signed off by a teacher.
Step 2: Mon, Mar 23: first 6 pages due for work-shopping in class
FINDING IDEAS:
Brainstorm a list of possible conflicts that a young person could have choose one and
develop the characters involved and the plot.
Picture prompts
Cut out interesting articles in the newspaper & let your imagination fill in the pieces
Take a story walk around your neighbourhood. Tell yourself that by the time you
return you will have a story (e.g. listen to conversations; observe people/ potential characters;
look at houses, parks, buildings, etc.)
