Reading Observation
What I notice:
Students had been working on pre-fixes and were now beginning to
learn about suffixes.
Definition: a suffix is a part of a word that comes at the end of
the word and changes the meaning of the root word.
Teacher then created a chart with different suffixes and what each
suffix means.

Students then watched a video about suffixes and during the video
they wrote down new words with suffixes in the chart that they heard.
For independent work students read a book and found 2 more words to
write down in each box.
Thoughts, Questions, Connections to Methods Classes:

I think this lesson was very engaging for the students and they really
enjoyed it. I really like how the video was relatable to the students life
and the words in the video were common words that the students had
heard before. Students really liked watching the video while trying to
write down as many new words as possible.
The lesson plan was relatable to our methods classes because the
teacher had a part of the lesson that the whole group did together then
they also did a part independently. The lesson was good, but brief and
the students went through smooth transitions to get their work done. I
liked the way this lesson was taught and would for sure use this idea
someday in my own lessons.
