Med-Arb Cases

Case-1
An old woman lives alone in her apartment on the ground floor,
she has issues with the family living just above her flat on the
first floor. The sewage pipes of the apartment on the first floor
have rotted as the apartments are very old. They need to be
replaced now. Due to the rotted pipes the water has seeped
inside the flooring and has damaged the ceiling of the old
ladys house. The situation has become so bad that the sewage
water keeps pouring down on the ground floor from the
damaged ceiling. The old woman had been complaining about
this to the people living on the first floor since a very long
time, but they havent been paying attention.
The woman is completely alone, she has no family, and is very
old. Hence, she does not want to get into the trouble of a court
case. So, she has come to the Med-Arb centre to get a fast
relief from her problem.

Old lady- My house is on the verge of coming down, due to the

seepage in the ceiling because Mr. Verma is not getting his
sewage pipes replaced and the water has seeped in through
his flooring. I have been requesting him to get it done from the
past 6 months, i also offered him that i can share some of the
expenses, but he is still not serious about the situation.
Mr. Verma- I have told her many times that i don't have any
money to spend on the repairing of the flat. I just married off
my daughter a few months ago, and spent all my savings on
her marriage. I cannot afford to get the repairing done. I have
told her that if she wants she can get it repaired herself.
Old Lady- How can i afford all the expenses? i just get a
pension with which i barely manage to survive.

Case-2
Husband and wife are living separately, as the wife moved to

her parents place with her daughter (They have a son too)
after they had a fight. The issue is, that that the wife wants to
continue further with her studies or do some job, but her
mother-in-law does not allow her to do so. Her husband
doesnt talk to her, whatever she asks, he just ignores. He only
listens to what his mother says, due to which
misunderstandings arise between both of them. He doubts on
her character and objects on her going out of the house.
The woman has lost all hopes, and has come to the Med-Arb
centre as she wants things to get clarified between her and
her husband and she wants him to take her and her daughter
back to his home with him.
