Sequencing Description:
Course Goal: The goal of this instruction is to educate employees about the use of Twitter on the topics of account
signup, how to tweet, and how to follow other Twitter users.
Account Signup
TLO: After completing this module of instruction, the learner will demonstrate how to signup for a Twitter account
ELOs:

Define the term microblogging

Explain the microblogging service called Twitter
Define the following terms: tweet, retweet, feed, follow, handle, mention, direct mention, hastag, #FF, MT,
OH, and unfollow
Create a personal Twitter account
Create contacts from a user email account address book

Explanation of the Learning Sequence: The learning objectives are learning-related sequenced. There are
identifiable prerequisites the learner must master before demonstrating more complex Twitter tasks. First, factual
terms about the Twitter service should be understood before attempting other Twitter tasks so there can be clear
communication between the instructor and learner. Second, an account must be created so the learner can complete
other Tweeting tasks.
How to Tweet
TLO: After completing this module of instruction, the learner will demonstrate the various functions involved with
composing and sending tweets
ELOs:

Create and send a tweet

Locate tweets about a specific topic
Modify a searched and found tweet using the correct abbreviation
Perform the function of retweeting
Perform the function of direct mentioning a follower
Use an established hashtag

Explanation of the Learning Sequence: The learning objectives are learning-related and sequenced based on
difficulty, less difficult to more difficult. This sequencing enables the learner to build on the successful completion
of prior tasks. Learning how to create a Tweet is an essential task that must be grasped before moving on to the more
difficult tasks of retweeting a tweet, mentioning another user, and using a hashtag.

How to Follow
TLO: After completing this module of instruction, the learner will demonstrate how to follow and unfollow other
Twitter users
ELOs:

Demonstrate the steps required to follow other handles on Twitter

Demonstrate the steps required to unfollow other handles on Twitter

Explanation of the Learning Sequence: The learning objectives are sequenced according to concept-related logical
prerequisite. Logically, the user must learn to follow before they can unfollow another Twitter user.

Text Design:
D4L is committed to designing effective instructional materials for ACME CHEM Solution by developing
appropriate materials that efficiently communicates how to use Twitter. The delivery method for our instructional
materials will be procedural instructions including lists, temporal sequencing and some definitions. It will be helpful
to create an instructional page, which guides the learner step-by-step, especially a printed copy which the learners
could reference after the training and share with others individual in their organization. The document will have bold
headings for each topic. The procedural steps will be numbered in sequential order. If there are any important words
that learners need to pay close attention to, the words will be in italic bold font. A program which allows pictures,
graphics and screenshots for presentation could be helpful to reinforce what the learner should see on their way
through the process using Twitter.

Multimedia Design:
The following are some considerations for message design using PowerPoint (PPT) or other multimedia.
Slideshare presentation Why Use Twitter by Lauren Pressley - http://www.slideshare.net/laurenpressley/why-usetwitter
One of the biggest questions about Twitter is Why - Why even bother with Twitter? Ms. Pressleys presentation that
she has posted to Slideshare answers this question succinctly using visuals. She also uses examples that the average
person can understand and relate to them.
This Slideshare presentation could be used as pre-work for class. That way time is not spent in class discussing the
Why? question.
YouTube video Twitter in Plain English by Common Craft - http://youtu.be/ddO9idmax0o
Common Crafts video also does a great job of explain why you would want to use Twitter while giving a simple yet
understandable explanation of Twitter.
This video could be used at the beginning of class as a way to introduce trainees to Twitter with the goal of helping
them feel more comfortable with the technology before they sign up for an account.
