Rationale for lesson:


Students can demonstrate their knowledge on how to prevent bullying. This is the final lesson in
a unit to start bullying in school.
Learning outcomes/objectives:
Students will create a bumper sticker informing others how to stand up to bullies.
Assessment of student outcomes:
Bumper stickers will be read and graded regarding their understanding how to stand up to
bullies.

Guidance Standard 3 Citizenship Development
Students develop the personal management and team-building skills needed to become
successful learners, responsible citizens, and productive workers.

Materials Needed:
Construction paper cut into strips 2 x 8
Colored pencils
Markers
Lesson/Activity Presentation:
Anticipatory set: Tootsie Roll, Lollipop! (Teacher)
We have been talking, now its time to stop. (Students)
Teaching procedures:

I will be sure to go over the different concepts of how to stop bullying. I will remind students of
things that can be seen as bullying and that they should try not to do these things. I will inform
the students to do their best on the bumper stickers because they will be placed on a bulletin
board.
Guided & independent practice:
Students will be working independently on creating a bumper sticker that will give advice on
how to stick it to bullies. Students will be reminded of the ways they can help to prevent
bullying around them.
Closure:
I will make sure that every student completes a bumper sticker. The bumper stickers will need to
be school appropriate.
Differentiated instruction:
Students with Individualized Education Plans will make sure that they are placed next to students
that will be willing to help the students.

Technology (if appropriate):
I will show the students an example of a bumper sticker on the document camera.
Reflection on lesson:
The lesson went well. Students liked the ability to use their imagination to create
their bumper stickers. I was impressed with some of the bumper stickers the
students create. The artwork was wonderful and they seemed to take their time
and wanted them to look nice.
