|lam happy to write this letter of recommendation for Andrew Alberti, Iam supervising Andrew's school
‘psychology internship this year, and | am impressed with the quality of his work, Andrew serves as the
ling school psychologist at Denison Montessori School. He is responsible for performing special
education assessments and attending IEP meetings, providing individual and group counseling,
consulting with teachers about students’ academic and behavioral needs, and advocating for students.
Andrew is a member of the school's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Team, and assists teachers in
collecting data, implementing interventions, and monitoring students’ progress. Andrew has worked
with teachers and parents to develop functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
to support students who have challenging behaviors, and he has frequently adjusted these plans to
‘meet the students’ needs. He is working with a student with a traumatic bran injury who requires an
extensive amount of support, nd is involved in all aspects of the student’s behavior intervention plan,
Currently he is collaborating with staff at the school and district levels to conduct further evaluations of
the student. He has implemented the Stop and Think! Curriculum with a sith grader and has worked
with another sixth grader who was the victim of bully
In November Andrew taught the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program to Denison Montessori sixth grade
students. After the program he conducted follow-up Suicide Risk Reviews with students who indicated
‘that they might be at risk for self-harm, This included talking to the students, contacting parents,
referring families for counseling services, and following up with students at later dates.
‘At Cowell Andrew has observed and assisted me in doing some of the sessions of the Stop, Walk, Talk
bullying prevention program, and is currently assisting me with Mindfulness training in a second grade
classroom. This semester he is doing a rotation with the Indian Education department; he 's providing
supports to high school American indian and Alaskan Native high school students, to help them set
joels, graduate from high school, and locate sources of financial aid for college.
[Andrew has taken advantage of the many professional development activities offered in DPS, including
NEI sessions, Department meetings, and Section 506 training, He also attended the CSSP conference in
November, 2014. Prior to his internship he participated in other trainings, including the Collaborative
Problem Solving Tier | Workshop and the NASP PREPaRE Workshop 1 for crisis prevention. Andrew is
‘eager to continue his professional development to improve his skills ¢s a school psychologist. He is well
organized, has good time management skills, and remains calm in stressful situations. Andrew will be an
‘asset to any school in which he works.
