Troop 104 Klondike Derby 2010

March 5th and 6th Maple Dell

Fri Jan 30th 4:30 pm–meet at the church parking lot at 4:30 pm (Eat a sandwich/snack before)
Dinner/Breakfast will be provided
Bring packs (or large duffel bag and sled if snow permits).
Keep all items bundled together (our campsite is about an ¼ mile hike)

Basics to staying warm:

1) Stay dry.
2) Wear a warm hat covering your ears. 38% of body heat escapes from the head. If your
hands and feet are cold put on a hat.
3) Change from wet/sweaty clothes into dry clothes.
4) Never go to bed in wet clothes. Wet clothes are not dry.
5) An insulated ground pad needs to be between the tent floor and the sleeping bag. We don’t
want to melt the snow with our body heat.
6) Use at least two sleeping bags. Put one sleeping bag inside of another one.
7) Keep Dry
