You are on page 1of 2

For your final

project, you will be required to make a CD that includes songs that can be linked to the
main themes of Macbeth.
You must include...
1. An album cover to your CD.
2. Ten to twelve songs-- be creative and think outside of the box! Check out music you
wouldn't normally listen to!
3. Each song must include the title, artist, and a brief explanation (approximately 5-6
sentences) on how the song relates to Macbeth. Look at a range of themes, don't focus
on just one!

***Extra credit will be given to those who use more than 12 tracks with explanations
and/or make an actual CD with the tracks you included in your analysis.
If you need an idea on how to do the analysis, see my examples below.

Ms. Saylor's examples:

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from The Lion King
The witches delivered prophecies to Macbeth that told him he would be king, but a few
things stood in his way of taking the throne. Macbeth would go to any length in order to
ensure he was king. The lyrics "I just can't wait to be king" shows Macbeth's willingness
to do whatever it takes to be king. He kills King Duncan, kills his best friend Banquo,
and will take all the necessary measures to make sure his status is King of Scotland. He
even dismisses his wife's suicide in order to fight anyone that may step in his path.

"Poker Face" by Lady Gaga

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plan King Duncan's murder all the way down to where the
murder weapons should be placed when the deed is done. When Duncan is found
murdered in bed, Macbeth is the first to get upset and pretend as if he knew nothing
about the murders. When Lady Macbeth finds out that Duncan has been killed, she puts
on what some call a "poker face" in order to make it seem as if she is upset and
saddened by Duncan's murder. Lady Macbeth held the best poker face throughout the
play especially when Macbeth seemed to have a mental breakdown during the feast

when Banquo's ghost appeared. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth put on great poker faces
throughout the play in order to ensure Macbeth was king.
