WHY DID MACBETH BECOME KING AFTER DUNCAN'S -1
?MURDER INSTEAD OF ONE OF DUNCAN'S SONS

1- After the king’s death, his two sons decided that for
their safety they must leave the country, so one of them
travelled to England and the other to Ireland. They left
behind a dead king, the crown and Macbeth. As the
rightful heirs to the throne have left Scotland, Macbeth
was made king.

2- Macbeth saw Banquo’s ghost for the first time at

the banquet where nobles came to pay their
respect to their new leader, he was shocked to see
him especially after knowing about his death.

3- Lady Macbeth said that this sometimes happens

to him and that he will be well again. She also asked
them to take no notice to the king and ignore him or
he will be offended.
4- " OUR SEPARATE FORTUNES SHALL KEEP BOTH OF US SAFE. WHERE
WE ARE, THERE ARE DAGGERS IN MEN'S SMILES." COMMENT.

4- Donalbain said these words to his brother, Malcolm after the

death of their father king Duncan. Suspecting Macbeth to be the
one who killed their father, they decided to leave the country for
their own safety. They knew that Macbeth wants to be the king
and that they will not be safe together, they collected their
belongings and left the castle. Malcolm went to England while
Donalbain went to Ireland.

5- Banquo said these words to Macbeth when

Banquo was talking to him after he became a king as
said by the witches’ predictions, Banquo, like the
rest of the kingdom men, suspects that Macbeth
was the one who killed the king to take his place.
6- " CAN YOU NOT SEE IT?. IT LOOKS AT ME. I CAN SEE
IT. WHY CAN'T YOU?" COMMENT.

6- Macbeth said these words to his wife, Lady

Macbeth, at the banquet when the nobles came to
pay respect to their new leader. Macbeth was in a
shock when he saw the bloody ghost of his dead
friend Banquo whom he ordered to be killed but
suddenly appears only to him.

1- His face was deathly white, he was shaking and

trembling till he couldn’t stand. He tried to speak
but his voice was thick with fear.
3- " YOU CANNOT SAY I DID IT. DO NOT SHAKE YOUR
BLOODY HEAD AT ME." COMMENT.

3- Macbeth said these words to the ghost of his friend

Banquo, when he appeared to him during the banquet.
He was sure that Banquo was dead and he was telling
him that he can not prove that he was the one who killed
him.

4- Ambition leads all the characters to do evil and wicked deeds.
Macbeth’s ambitious leads him to kill people who trusted him.
Lady Macbeth is as ambitious as her husband, she pushed her
husband to commit a crime for the sake of fulfilling what they
want, even Banquo has ambition for his sons after hearing the
witches prophecies
