Bookings

Providing a venue for parties and public

events is an important part of the Centre.
Party hire rates are extremely reasonable and
the Centre also has its own bouncy castle and
inflatable slide available for hire.
Individual rooms can also be rented by the
hour.

Funding

Western Parishes

The Centre is an independent charity, relying

solely on donations, fundraising and hire of
the facilities to fund community activities,
general maintenance and running costs.

Western Parishes Community Library

Styx Internet and Learning Centre

The library is open every Wednesday from

10-12pm and offers books, cds, dvds and
audio tapes provided by the Guille-Alls.
These are updated on a regular basis.

Every Thursday from 10-11.30am, open to

everyone. No booking is required.
The internet is a vast knowledge base.
Practically anything you want to know can be
found online but modern technology can be
daunting, especially as it progresses so
quickly.

Toddler Group
Styx Toddler group is open during term time,
every Tuesday from 9.30- 11.30am. Families
pay 1 to cover the cost of refreshments.
Toys and games keep the toddlers
entertained in the main hall and parents can
relax with a coffee whilst still being able to
keep a watchful eye on them.
Styx Playground

Since it opened its doors in April 2005 the

number of visitors has continued to grow and
currently there are 200 members. The library
is staffed solely by volunteers.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are on offer.
Also in conjunction with the Guille-Alls is
Storytime for tots, held every Wednesday
during term time from 11-11.30am.
Songs, rhymes and stories with a member of
the library staff, who excel at bringing the
books to life and encouraging parents and
tots to get involved.

Most people just want to acquire a basic

knowledge and the confidence to use it.
It doesnt matter how little you know, it really
is never too late to learn!
All our volunteers have a great deal of
patience and the relaxed, friendly
atmosphere puts everyone at ease.
Supported by donations.

The playground here at Styx has been a

popular meeting place for parents and
children for years. The former playground
committee handed over administration to the
Trustees but the playground remains a
separate charity.
Adult equipment was installed in 2012 in
conjunction with Age Concern Guernsey.
The cost of maintaining the playground is met
purely by donations and fundraising events.
