NEWS FOR PARENTS, FAMILY-MEMBERS AND YOUNG PEOPLE The Word UP! Youth Club is managed by Bristol Community Housing Foundation in partnership with the Police and the Horfield Community Association. It aims to ensure there is a good amount of activities for local young people running at The Wordsworth Centre. The group relies on volunteers and funding help from local businesses and partners and we are very grateful for all the assistance we have received from BYCA, Trafford Hall, The Tudor Trust, Police, Community Futures, Norfisk, Orchard School and local residents. This has helped us to get a weekly youth club back into the centre so local young people have somewhere safe to go. AND HERES HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR LOCAL YOUTH CLUB! As you may have noticed, the Wordsworth Centre has a new textile bank on its forecourt. We are asking local people to bring and old clothes that still have some wear left in them to the textile bank. This is collected by Bristol Textile Recycling who pay us for each full bank of clothes collected. The money raised from this funds the Word UP! Youth Club and is used to buy new equipment and pay its two members of staff. The club has also developed a rewards scheme and all young people attending have the chance to earn points for good behaviour and being helpful. These points are totted up every two months and those with the most points will receive a prize. Prizes are donated by local businesses. If you know a business that might like to help with this, please get in touch with us by calling 0117 9319776 or email scott@bchf.co.uk
